Things to do in Engelberg and Mount Titlis
Engelberg sits roughly 1 h 50 from Interlaken by train via Lucerne on the Brunig line, with a change at Lucerne or Meiringen depending on the connection. The draw is Mount Titlis at 3,020 m, reached from the village by a three-stage cable car that finishes on the Rotair, the world's first revolving cableway cabin, rotating a full 360 degrees on the way up.
A return ticket runs close to CHF 96 for adults if bought online in advance, more at the counter. At the top, Europe's highest suspension bridge spans 100 m across a ridge at nearly 3,000 m, and the Glacier Cave lets you walk inside the ice year-round. Before heading up, the Benedictine abbey in the village, founded in 1120, is worth 20 minutes and costs nothing to view from outside.
Lift closures for maintenance and high wind are common in spring and autumn, so check the status page before travelling out.
