Things to do at the Schilthorn

The Schilthorn tops out at 2,970 m, and Piz Gloria on the summit is still best known as the rotating restaurant used in the 1969 Bond film On Her Majesty's Secret Service, complete with a small Bond World exhibit and a photo cut-out of the Aston Martin.

The cabin ride runs in four sections from Stechelberg via Gimmelwald, Murren and Birg, and a standard return from Stechelberg costs around CHF 110, though the Good Morning ticket before 8:40am and Berner Oberland Pass holders both cut that down. At Birg, the Thrill Walk is a caged steel walkway bolted to the cliff face with glass panels underfoot, included in the summit ticket.

On a clear day the 360-degree panorama takes in the Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau to the east and the Mont Blanc massif to the west; on a cloudy one, you have paid full fare for a restaurant with no view.
