Things to do in Zurich
Zurich is Interlaken's easiest big-city day trip, roughly 2 hours 5 minutes by train, with hourly departures and no change needed on most services. Bahnhofstrasse runs from the main station down to the lake, lined with department stores and bank facades rather than bargains.
The Grossmunster's twin towers cost CHF 5 to climb, and the Fraumunster next door charges CHF 6 to see Marc Chagall's five stained-glass windows, finished in 1970. The Niederdorf's narrow lanes fill up after dark. Lake Zurich boats run year-round, and the lido-style Seebad Enge is open to swimmers in summer for a small entry fee.
The Uetliberg, reached by a 20-minute train from Zurich HB, gives a free ridge-top view over the city and lake. The FIFA World Football Museum charges CHF 24 for adults.
