Things to do in Lauterbrunnen
Lauterbrunnen's valley floor is lined with 72 waterfalls, though most visitors only register two: the Staubbachfall, a 297-metre drop you can see for free from the village street, and the Trümmelbachfälle, ten glacier-fed falls inside the rock face that cost CHF 14 to enter.
The valley itself is flat and about 5 km long, walkable in under two hours or covered faster by rented bike, with Stechelberg at the far end for the Schilthorn cable car. The train from Interlaken Ost takes roughly 20 minutes and is the sensible option: parking is scarce and expensive, and the single access road clogs up in summer.
Camping Jungfrau at the valley entrance offers pitches from around CHF 20 a night, a cheaper base than a village room, though showers and kitchens are shared.
